ChinaTip #0606

The fishing ban period lasted nearly half a month.

The fishing ban lasted for more than 10 days. During that period the variety of seafood in markets and supermarkets decreased. Farmed aquatic products, frozen products, and imported aquatic products became the three major “protagonists“ in the aquatic product market during the fishing ban.

Among them, the price of aquaculture products was relatively stable.

According to several frozen seafood wholesalers, the price of frozen seafood did not fluctuate much. However, the price of high quality frozen seafood went up substantially. “For example, good-quality wild ribbon fish usually sells for more than 40rmb/kg, and now it sells for more than 80rmb/kg. The sales of frozen products during the fishing ban season are 30% more than sales of other period.

At the same time, the price of imported aquatic products during the fishing ban period was relatively stable.
