In the Chinese market, seafood prices fell after the Lantern Festival.

In the Chinese market, seafood prices fell after the Lantern Festival, and live shrimp continued to drop in price.

On February 16, the reporter visited the aquatic products wholesale market in Ningbo, China and found that with the end of the Spring Festival holiday, the prices of most aquatic products such as yellow croaker, pomfret, hairtail, and shrimp have generally dropped.

“As far as the current price is concerned, the average wholesale price of aquatic products in the market has dropped by 10% compared with that during the Spring Festival”, the person in charge of the wholesale market declared.

The price of live vannamei is below the expectations of farmers, and it is generally in a state of decline. Taking the size of 30 as an example, except for the price of a small amount of high-quality shrimp in Jiangmen, Guangdong and Beihai, Guangxi, that can be maintained at around 6 rmb/kg, the prices in other regions are between 54-58 rmb/kg.

Recent continued rainy weather in many places is having an effect on shrimp pools. In addition, due to the impact of local epidemics, the consumption of food and beverages is on the decline, which also abounds in explaining why the general price of shrimp is difficult to increase.
