Ecuadorian, Indian, Indonesian vannamei shrimp and black tiger shrimp prices are all rising.

Last week, Ecuadorian vannamei shrimp manufacturers offered:

30/40 $6.51

40/50 $6.21

50/60 $5.91

60/70 $5.51 (Brine frozen +0.1~0.2$, the quotation is for reference only).

Compared with the period before Chinese new year, the small and medium-sized are all rising, with an increase of about 0.1~0.2$/kg.

Usually after Chinese new year is the off-season. However, at the end of last year, Chinese importers placed a lot of orders. According to data from the Ecuadorian Aquaculture Chamber of Commerce (CNA), during November-December 2021, Ecuador exported more than 90,000 tons of vannamei shrimp to China. About more than 5,000 containers (estimated at 18 tons/container). According to industry insiders, these containers should have arrived at China recently, but because the shipping situation is unstable, some are in customs clearance.

In this regard, industry insiders analyzed that the reason for the increase in orders at the end of last year was firstly because of the reduction of tariffs, everyone bought a little more and worried about the price increase later; secondly, the price of Indian shrimp and other prices increased, and the relative price of Ecuador was low.

In addition, the current price of raw shrimp in overseas markets has also risen. India and Indonesia rose across the board; Vietnam’s large-sized shrimp rose sharply; In terms of black tiger shrimp, Vietnam and Malaysia rose across the board.
