After the May Day holiday, the price of live shrimp in the Chinese market began to drop sharply. Even Mother’s Day, a few days ago, was unable to stimulate market consumption demand.
The price is still in a state of decline, down about 2rmb/kg from last week. It is reported that currently affected by the epidemic, most of the catering industry has been hit and closed down, and the consumption has been greatly reduced.
The high incidence of disease of many shrimp ponds, resulted in a big volume of small size 50-70 and medium-sized diseased shrimps, provoking in pricing instability.
In Fujian Province, due to the impact of the epidemic, the market circulation was blocked, and despite of the fact that there were few shrimp trucks, the consumer distrust provoked a decline in shrimp prices.
Recently, many shrimp farmed in Jiangsu Province have reached the specifications that allow them to be marketed, but due to the impact of epidemic prevention and control, shrimp prices have dropped, and farmers keep the shrimp and hope that the market improves.
However, once large quantities of shrimp are ready to be marketed, it is estimated that the price of shrimp will continue to fall.
