700 tons of frozen products are not allowed to enter China in April.

In April 2022, China Customs detected a total of 339 batches of unqualified food items that were not allowed to enter the country during port supervision. All of them have been returned or destroyed at the port according to law. Among them, there were 69 batches of unqualified imported frozen food, with a total weight of about 729.6 tons.

Different from the previous months, chicken products and shell products accounted for 71% of the total.

In terms of origin, the origins were concentrated in Russia (chicken feet) and Japan (scallops), and others came from Pakistan, Vietnam, the United States, Iran, Ecuador and other countries.

In terms of declared ports, 44% of “problem frozen products” were rejected by Shanghai port, where the epidemic has made the inspection of frozen products more stringent. The other ports are Dalian, Qingdao, Zhanjiang and Shenzhen.

Frozen shellfish products accounted for the largest proportion of the aquatic products, and this is the only time since January 2022 that frozen shellfish products accounted for 34%.
In April, the shellfish products that were not allowed to enter the country were mainly scallops, accounting for 78%, and whelks, with a total weight of about 245 tons. The origin is Japan, and the reasons for not being allowed to enter the country are excessive cadmium, pollution and corruption.
