China is the fastest growing market for the squid and octopus imports from Vietnam. Accounting for more than 7%, China represents the fifth largest import market for the Vietnamese squid and octopus.
In July, Vietnamese squid and octopus exports to China reached up to US$4.3 million. In the first seven months of 2020, Vietnamese squid and octopus exports to China exceeded US$22 million, an increase of 59% over the same period in 2019.
The pandemic affected the Vietnamese exports in the first two months of this year. Since March, China’s demand for squid and octopus has recovered.
China mainly imports from Vietnam frozen whole squid, frozen squid, dried squid, frozen cut octopus, and whole octopus.
