  1. Definition

Cookies are files which are stored on your computer when you visit certain webpages. Among other things, cookies allow a web page to store and retrieve information about the browsing habits of a user or their equipment and, depending on the information they contain and the way they use their equipment, they can be used to recognize the user.

Depending on who serves them, cookies can be divided between first-party cookies, served by this page, and third-party cookies, served by other websites or services.

  1. Types of cookies

Classification according to the purpose for which the necessary data is processed through them:

Technical cookies: those that allow the user to navigate through a web page, platform or application and use the different options or services that exist there, such as, for example, traffic monitoring and data communication, identify the session, entry to restricted access sections, remember the elements that make up an order, make the purchase process of an order, make the request for registration or participation in an event, use security elements during navigation, store content for the dissemination of videos or sound or share content through social networks.

Functional cookies: those that allow the user to access the service with some predefined general characteristics based on a series of criteria in the user’s terminal, such as the language, the type of browser through which the service is accessed, the regional configuration from where you access the service, etc.

Analytical cookies: those that allow the person responsible for them to monitor and analyze the behavior of the users of the websites to which they are linked. The information collected through this type of cookies is used in the measurement of the activity of the website, application or platform and for the elaboration of navigation profiles of the users of said sites, applications and platforms, in order to introduce improvements based on the analysis of the usage data made by the users of the service.

Advertising cookies: those that allow the management, in the most efficient way possible, of the advertising spaces that, where appropriate, the editor has included in a web page, application or platform from which it provides the requested service based on criteria such as content edited or the frequency at which the ads are displayed.

Behavioral advertising cookies: those that allow the management, in the most efficient way possible, of the advertising spaces that, where appropriate, the editor has included in a web page, application or platform from which it provides the requested service. These cookies store information on the behavior of users obtained through the continuous observation of their browsing habits, which allows developing a specific profile to display advertising based on it.

Classification according to the duration:

Session Cookies: Session cookies are those that last as long as the user is browsing the website and are deleted at the end.

Persistent Cookies: Persistent cookies stay on the user’s browser for a longer time, facilitating the control of the chosen preferences without having to repeat certain parameters every time the website is visited.

As an additional guarantee to the abovementioned ones, the registration of our cookies may be subject to the acceptance of cookies by the user during the installation or updating of the browser used, and this acceptance may at any time be revoked through the setting options of content and privacy available.

Normally it is possible to stop accepting browser cookies, or stop accepting cookies from a particular service. All modern browsers allow you to change cookie settings. These settings are usually found in the ‘options’ or ‘Preferences’ of your browser menu.

The user will find the steps to access the settings menu of cookies and, where appropriate, private browsing, in each of the main browsers in the following instructions and URLs:

Internet Explorer: Tools -> Internet Options -> Privacy -> Settings.  For more information, you can consult the Microsoft support or the browser Help.

Chrome: Settings-> Show advanced options -> Privacy -> Content settings. For more information, you can consult the Google support or the browser Help.

These browsers are subject to updates or modifications, so it cannot be guaranteed that these instructions fully conform to the version of your browser. You might also use another browser not included in these links such as Konqueror, Arora, Flock, etc. To avoid these discrepancies, you can access directly from the options of your browser usually found in the Options menu, in the “Privacy” section.
