The export volume of Ecuador vannamei shrimp will easily exceed 1 million tons by the end of the year.

Recently, the demand of all vannamei shrimp import markets has obviously cooled. However, surprisingly, the export of Ecuador vannamei shrimp in October was still strong, only about 2,000 tons less than that in September, and the export volume in a single month increased by 33% compared with the same period last year.

From January to October, Ecuador exported about 885,000 tons of vannamei shrimp products, up 31.7% year on year. The cumulative export volume of 10 months has exceeded the export volume of last year (about 840,000 tons). It is expected that the export volume of shrimp will easily exceed 1 million tons this year.

From the performance of each market, orders from the Chinese market are undoubtedly the key driver of the year-on-year growth of total exports.

In terms of export value, from January to October, the total export value of shrimp reached 5.67 billion US dollars, up 43% year on year. Among them, the export volume to the Chinese market reached 3.04 billion US dollars, up 76% year on year. The sales revenue of the shrimp in the Chinese market is more than half of its total revenue.

In terms of export volume, from January to October this year, Ecuador sold 490,000 tons of white shrimp products to the Chinese market, accounting for 55.4% of the total export volume.

Some insights from the export volume data of Ecuador vannamei shrimp to China, the United States and Europe are the following:

Compared with last October, sales in Europe and the United States both declined slightly, while sales in China increased by 70.6%.

Compared with September this year, the sales volume of the Chinese market is also growing, but the month on month growth rate is far lower than expected.

In October this year, Ecuador exported 58,000 tons of vannamei shrimp products to China, only about 1,000 tons more than that in September, and 24,000 tons more than that in the same period last year.

Affected by the spread of the epidemic, the consumer market for imported frozen products was once very low. With the increase of import costs, many Chinese importers fell into confusion. Because there are too many uncertain factors, it is no longer possible to rely solely on the traditional off peak season to judge the purchase opportunity. Now, Guangzhou and other cities have announced the resumption of catering, which not only brings dawn to the catering industry, but also is a new hope for importers.
