Workers unloading imported frozen cod in Qingdao Port were found positive with COVID-19. Qingdao Port will implement the strictest inspection standards for imported frozen products.
On October 20th, the Qingdao Municipal Government Information Office stated that Qingdao will implement mandatory inspections on all imported cold-chain products. Each product will be checked and all the workers who come in direct contact with the imported cold-chain products in the port and storage facilities will be tested every 3 or 5 days.
The Qingdao Municipal Government also requires that all premium wholesalers that purchase imported frozen and refrigerated products must report 24 hours before the purchased food arrives in the city, to the destination market’s supervision department. Also, the imported meat products should present the certificate of COVID-19 nucleic acid test, before entering the production.
