According to China’s latest customs data, China’s frozen vannamei shrimp imports reached US$360 million in October, the highest monthly import value so far this year.
Compared with September, prices have risen and imports have increased. In October, 56,464 tons of frozen vannamei shrimp were imported, an increase of 26% from the previous month.
China’s largest source of imports was Ecuador, 38,605 tons of shrimp worth 240 million U.S. dollars, and it was also the month with the largest import value from this country this year.
India, China’s second largest supplier, supplied 7,877 tons, valued at US$49 million, a decrease from September.
Imports in the first 10 months were 464,261 tons, a decrease of 1% year-on-year. Imports amounted to US$2.73 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2%.
