400,000 salmon eggs have recently been delivered to three Chinese customers, reflecting China’s plan to expand the salmon farming industry.
The products have been delivered to a customer who is farming salmon in a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). It is reported that mainly produces two sizes of salmon, one is to farm salmon inland circulation equipment to less than 1 kg, and then transfer it to offshore farms; the other is to farm salmon through land-based circulation up to when the size is about 10 grams, transfer it to the cage of the freshwater lake.
The Chinese market is relatively large. Cities and coastal areas consume chilled salmon; instead, continental and medium-sized cities prefer frozen salmon. They mainly consume large salmon (average weight greater than 6 kg). Large-size salmon farming is not very high, so direct farming in China offers many advantages.
