Bangladeshi seafood exporters have opened up a new route to China by establishing an air link between Dhaka and Xi’an, a city in northwest China. A manager at Xi’an Airport said that this route will use Boeing 737 flights operated by YTO Airlines in China six times a week, and the new route is expected to deliver seafood on the return flight back to Xi’an Xianyang International Airport.
Bangladesh mainly produces black tiger prawns, and most of them have been shipped to the EU so far, but the country has been struggling to keep up with high exports from India in recent years.
The opening of the new route will undoubtedly add a powerful new supplier to the Chinese market, especially the shrimp market.
