ChinaTip #0464

The submission of “Certificate of origin” for the imported aquatic products is no longer mandatory in China.

On August 31st, the General Administration of Customs of China issued an announcement adjusting the regulatory requirements for certain imported and exported goods. The article 9 of the Announcement No. 99 of 2020 states that the submission of the “Certificate of origin” of imported aquatic products to the customs is cancelled.

According to the previous regulations, in addition to the general trade documents, imported aquatic products needed to be issued a “Health certificate”, an “Animal and plant quarantine permit” (for some aquatic products), and a “Certificate of origin”.

Removing the obligation of the “Certificate of origin” for the aquatic importers, the seafood trade becomes more convenient in China.
