China’s current strict inspections of imported frozen food have directly led to a sharp drop in the number of frozen products exported to China from countries with severe epidemics.
India is currently one of the most severely affected countries by the Coronavirus in the world. India’s customs export business has slowed down significantly, impacting drastically the seafood category, as India’s one of the main exports.
Ireland’s seafood exports to China have also fallen sharply. So far this year, Irish seafood exports to China (as of the end of July) are estimated at 9.4 million euros (11 million U.S. dollars). This is much lower than the 33.2 million euros (39 million US dollars) in the same period last year.
Indonesia faced banning of one of its export companies of frozen fish products to China, after being tested for the Coronavirus.
An Argentinian company exporting pork to China has independently suspended its export to China since September 30th.
