In July, China’s shrimp imports fell 24% month-on-month.

According to data released by the Chinese Customs, July’s imports of warm-water shrimp (including Argentinian red shrimp) reached 56,773 tons, a decrease of 24% compared with June (74,573 tons). The import value was about 311 million U.S. dollars.

The main exporters of warm-water shrimp to China in July were Ecuador – 50,000 tons and India – 10,208 tons.

The other important exporter countries ranked by volume were: Thailand – 2,050 tons, Argentina – 1,700 tons and Vietnam – 1,950 tons.

In the first seven months of this year, China has imported 339,000 tons of warm-water shrimp products, valued at US$2.29 billion.
