ChinaTip #0473

China’s imports of cold-water shrimp increased by 3.8% in July.

China’s imports of cold-water shrimp in July 2020 maintained a year-on-year growth rate of 3.8%, from 4234 tons in July 2019 to 4394 tons in July 2020. However, the year-on-year growth rate has decreased significantly from the high-speed growth rate of 73.9% in May 2020 and 43.9% in June 2020, which also reflects the current difficult situation of imported seafood in China.

The various cases of COVID-19 infestation of the outer package of imported seafood detected in the last three months have dropped consumer trust in imported seafood to the lowest level in history.
